Indicative estimate based on level averages — your actual time depends on your technique and strength on each station.

How this calculation works

The estimate combines two elements: total time over the 8km course (your pace × 8), and an estimate of time spent on the 8 stations, based on averages observed by level — beginner, intermediate, or competitive. A transition buffer is also included, reflecting the time changing between each running segment and each station.

This isn't a guaranteed prediction: two athletes at the same running pace can have very different station times depending on their functional strength and technique. It's a useful ballpark figure for setting a realistic goal, not an exact stopwatch.

How long is the running part of a Hyrox?

A Hyrox race includes 8 kilometers of running, split into 8 one-kilometer segments, each followed by a station. If you know your pace per kilometer, the running time is simple to compute: pace × 8. Here are a few reference points:

Pace (min/km)Running time over 8 km
4:3036:00
5:0040:00
5:3044:00
6:0048:00
6:3052:00
7:0056:00

Keep in mind that these times assume you hold the same pace on all 8 segments. In practice, running right after a station (sled, wall balls, lunges) is harder than running fresh, and pace often drops as the race goes on. This is called compromised running: build in a margin rather than aiming for your 10K pace.

Hyrox finish-time benchmarks (2025/26 season)

To put the calculator's estimate in context, here are reference points from the 2025/26 season statistics (details in our article what is a good Hyrox time):

CategoryMedianTop 25%Top 10%
Open men1:27under 1:17under 1:10
Open women1:36under 1:26under 1:18
Pro men (median)1:20——
Pro women (median)1:26——

In Open, running makes up a little under half of the total time: about 41 minutes for a median man (around 5:08/km) and 46 minutes for a median woman (around 5:45/km).

FAQ

How is the estimated race time calculated?

The tool multiplies your pace by the 8km course, then adds an estimate of station time based on your level. This is indicative, not a guaranteed prediction.

Is the station time estimate reliable?

It remains an indicative average per level. Actual time depends heavily on your technique and strength on each movement.

What pace should I hold in a Hyrox race?

A pace you can repeat 8 times, after demanding stations. It is usually a bit slower than your pace on an isolated 5 to 10 km run. Start conservatively: it is better to speed up at the end than to collapse in the middle.

Is the 8 km of running continuous?

No. It is split into 8 one-kilometer segments, each followed by a station (SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpees broad jump, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls).

Does the calculator include transitions?

Yes, a transition buffer is built into the estimate to reflect the time between each running segment and each station.
