The short answer

A "good" time depends on your division and your goal. For a first race, finishing while managing your pace is already a real achievement. To place yourself, here is what the results say: in Open, the median is 1:27 for men and 1:36 for women. A man finishing in 1:27 is therefore mid-pack, and so is a woman finishing in 1:36.

Open division benchmarks, 2025/26 season

OpenMedianAverageTop 25%Top 10%
Men1:271:31under 1:17under 1:10
Women1:361:40under 1:26under 1:18

The average is a bit higher than the median because a few very long times pull the calculation up. To compare yourself, the median is the most telling benchmark.

And in the Pro division?

ProMedianAverage
Men1:201:24
Women1:261:30

Note that Pro loads are much heavier (see Hyrox weights by division), so Pro and Open times can't be compared directly. For reference, individual world records are now under 55 minutes.

Performance tiers in Open

Rather than one single time, it's more useful to think in slices of the ranking:

Faster half1:17 to 1:271:26 to 1:36
Slower half1:27 to 1:411:36 to 1:50

How much of the race is running?

Running makes up a little under half of total time. For a median Open man that is around 41 minutes of running over the 8 km, roughly 5:08 per kilometer; for a median woman, about 46 minutes, roughly 5:45 per kilometer. The rest is split between stations and transitions.

These paces are slower than what you'd hold on a fresh 8 km, because every kilometer is run on legs tired by the previous station. We cover this in detail in our article on compromised running.

Setting a realistic goal

The field is much denser at the front: a few minutes gained between 1:20 and 1:10 pass far more people than the same minutes gained at the back of the ranking. To go further, read how to improve your Hyrox race time and how to analyze your performance.
